It’s been a minute since I’ve updated y’all on what I’m reading. It’s a little all over the place and has very much depended on my mood. Right now of course it’s all zombie all the time since we’re close to Halloween. But, I made the mistake of listening to a zombie book on my way home at night a few days ago, and had nightmares we were under zombie attack. Now zombie books are for daytime listening only.
Here are my favorite books I’ve read in September and October. If It’s part of a series, I’ll also link to the first book.
This book is dark. But it also speaks to some of the pitfalls of social media and being an influencer. I liked seeing the whole picture through various points of view. I will say, check the trigger warnings on this book. There’s no way to avoid the triggers for it. (child harm, miscarriages, infertility, basically anything to do with kids/babies.)
I really loved this mystery/thriller. There are twists and turns throughout the book. Some I saw coming, and others I guessed at but wasn’t quite sure. I’m also excited to watch the television show. I want to see how they compare. This is another one of those that deals with a sort of social media, but it’s more of a gossip site.
This was a re-read for me. I wanted to refresh my memory as I read the next book, A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. I love the world JLA has created. The mythology and take on vampires and werewolves is spot on. If you need a fantasy series with paranormal aspects to jump into, I highly recommend this one.
Alexis Daria is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her characters are people I can connect with and I love these romcoms. Michelle and Gabriel are a hot mess, and I love seeing them find their way back to each other. If you love second chance romance, this one to pick up.
This one is hauntingly beautiful full of magical realism. It’s about family, and the dynamics within them. Finding yourself and being happy with who you are. I’m going to be doing a re-read of this one soon. If only I could back and read it for the first time again.
I’ve had this book on my TBR since 2013!!! All I can keep asking myself is why did I wait so freaking long to read this. There’s suspense, chemical warfare, and characters you can’t help but cheer for. I’m excited to read the rest of this series, especially since Joe Ledger makes an appearance in Maberry’s YA zombie series Rot & Ruin.
I’m picking this series back up so I can finish it. I started reading it earlier this year, but it goes down some dark truths and I needed something lighter at the time. This is definitely a great addition to the Rot & Ruin series. If you like young adult books and zombies, this is a great one!
