Y’all, it’s been a year. 2020 has definitely thrown a curveball at all of us. It’s been a year of loss, slowing down, and getting really close with those in your household. As much as this year has sucked, it’s also been a decent-ish year.

I was able to see my great-grandmother one last time before she passed away. She was just as stubborn as usual and I’m glad I got those moments with her before everything shut down.
-
I learned just how flexible and resilient my kids are. Despite being forced to continue their school year online, they made the best of it and adjusted well. (For the most part, there are some subjects I SUCK at helping with. I loathe math!)
-
We had a lot of family time. Not that we didn’t before, but it was more quality time instead of rushing them to this and that.
-
I was in the middle of burnout when the pandemic hit and trying to figure out how I was going to get everything done by the deadlines, and I was forced to slow down. It really helped with my mindset and I’m ready to attack 2021 with ferocity in my writing.

I discovered how much I missed doing puzzles. It was a Sunday activity with my mom when I was a kid, and while I hoped it would be something the kids and I did together, it definitely helps me calm down and refills the creative well. (The kids don’t have the patience to sit and do a puzzle. It’s okay, I still love them. It provides me some alone time to just chill.)

Since I was a lot less busy I was able to binge watch some of my favorite shows, and finish ones that I didn’t think I’d ever have time for.
My heart breaks for those that we’ve lost this year and I hope for peace and comfort for those families that have been hit directly by this pandemic. We’re living through something we’ve never experience before, and we’re all dealing with it in our own ways. If you need to talk, my email and DMs are always open. It’s been a rough year and we’ve lacked that connection we crave. If I can provide that listening ear, I’m more than happy to.
The new year is upon us and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope 2021 treats you all well. I hope that you’re able to flourish in the new year and achieve all that you set out to do. As for me, these are a few things you’ll see in 2021.
-
The completion of the Cousins Gone series.
-
The beginning of a new series, Out of the Ashes.
-
The debut of my pen name with an author friend of mine under Stella Montgomery. (We can’t wait for y’all to jump into the Mes U world.)
-
More blog posts. I’m going to try to do weekly posts. They’ll cover different things like what I’m reading, planner items I love, and my writing. If there’s anything you’d like me to blog about, let me know!
-
More online events. Most of these will take place in my reader group so if you want that more personal connection with me, join me in Katrina Marie’s Dreamers on Facebook.

Kicking off my podcast with SK Derbas, again. 2020 kicked our butts when trying to launch it in the fall and we’re jumping back in next month.
All in all, I expect greatness from myself in 2021. I hope you have a safe, happy, and healthy kick off to the new year!
